Crossing a border...without moving

CROSSING A BORDER

What is it to cross a border?
Is it getting into your car or plane and leaving your town, province or country? Is it to or help someone you normally wouldn't? Is it a thought that makes you go into a direction that could change your whole life? Is it a bad habit that you are trying to overcome?  Everything in life has borders... it’s our willingness to trust God and cross them, that makes us grow spiritually and emotionally.

During this journey that Crystal and I have been on, we had to cross quit a few borders. Ironically every type of border except the one we thought we had to cross. God has been really faithful and has opened our eyes to so many new and challenging things along the way, that we cannot see it any other way than God taking us on a journey to find ourselves and to show us a world that we did not know existed.
We have experienced first hand on how a missionary feels when preparing to go into the missions field. We know what it's like to be forgotten when on the field;  what it feels like to know that at the end of the month there is no money and yet still believing for a miracle; what it is to desperately need the people of your churches' support - be it emotionally, financially, or the most important of all, Prayer, and being disappointed time and again. Our experience, coming back from training, was that most have no idea what missions is all about - responses like "Did you have a nice holiday" were heard often. Then there were the few, that kept in touch, supported financially, prayed and invested in us emotionally as well. This fact is so true in the life of a missionary. It is not the rich that support you financially, but the person you expected the least. It's not the people you know that will sometimes invest emotionally into you,  it's the quiet person in the back that always has you in their prayers.
This journey might have started out as an ideal or "great idea", but it ended up as a life changing journey.

Recently we were blessed with a little girl, Jemimah Faith Young. This marks the beginning of a new journey and new borders to be crossed. For now Crystal, Jemimah and myself will stay in South Africa.  The main reason for not going, is because God did not allow the necessary funds to be there. Crystal and I will be more involved in missions in our church for now. If you have a heart for souls and feel that you would like to get involved, we urge you to support the various ministries within Light & Life. A list of these ministries will be published soon. If you have supported the Crossing Borders ministry rest assure that your contribution has made a difference! We just want to say thank you and believe that you will be blessed beyond and above what you can imagine.

We have come to the conclusion that when God puts something on your life path, it rarely is about the destination, but about the journey, the crossing of a border - that one leap of faith. Where do you find yourself today? Did you get so obsessed with where you are heading and where you need to be, that you have forgotten to see what God has been showing you now? I pray that you will trust in Him and cross that border!
